The Assessment and Intervention Team is seeking to appoint an Assistant Team Manager to join our management team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Wrexham’s ongoing improvement journey.
Our team primarily undertakes referrals requiring comprehensive assessment. The role demands strong decision‑making and swift action in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and support up to six social workers (newly qualified and experienced) and students on placement.
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and performance and practice meet high standards within statutory timescales.
* Lead investigations and maintain compliance with the All Wales Child Protection Procedures to protect children from harm.
* Support the manager with staff recruitment, selection, organising and chairing team meetings, conducting staff appraisals and monitoring performance in line with the council’s capability, grievance and disciplinary procedures.
* Plan, allocate and evaluate resources to keep the team operating efficiently.
Qualifications
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Social Care Wales registration.
* Ability to respond effectively to constant change, conflicting deadlines and shifting priorities.
* Capacity to assist in safeguarding children.
* Strong decision‑making skills.
* Capability to work in both English and Welsh.
