At our Stratford Facility we fabricate and assemble components for heavy truck, defense and off-road equipment companies. We feature fitting and welding, metal forming, saw cutting, painting, assembly departments and manufacture everything from small components to large structures, sheet metal to heavy plate.
Afternoon Shift Schedule: 3:30 pm-2:00 am (Monday-Thursday)
Position Summary
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the incumbent is responsible for performing a range of quality assurance duties within this ISO registered company. This position is responsible for the quality systems, testing, and performance standards of the plant and ensures customer specifications are met at each level of production. The incumbent will be responsible for developing inspection and test plans, together with the promotion of and compliance with industry safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities
* Coordinate the ITP and first article inspection.
* Ability to use the Faro arm or similar scanning or probing equipment.
* Ability to create programs, part alignment, and create reports using the Polyworks software.
* Conduct initial qualification testing of manufactured/machined products during preproduction and prototype stages.
* Perform product audits as applicable.
* Assist in set up, provide required gauging, and conduct First Off Inspections.
* Implement and maintain quality systems, taking into account customer requirements while monitoring the quality levels of products for the facility.
* Provide technical support for Machined, welded, and assembled products.
* Prepare and issue inspection test plans, and employ preventative measures as required.
* Participate in solving quality problems, including supplier, internal, and customer.
* Ensure necessary quality-related tools and procedures are available, controlled, and used correctly and efficiently.
* Assist in conducting inspection and testing of finished products, raw materials, and subcontracted intermediate products.
* Ensure the orderliness, cleanliness, and efficiency of the Quality Department.
Educational Requirements
* Degree or diploma in Quality Technician, Engineering Technician or equivalent experience
* Certified Quality Technician (CQT) from ASQ or equivalent certification. (preferred)
* Training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality methodologies (preferred).
Required Skills & Expertise
* 3-5 years’ experience in quality management, product testing, and inspection.
* Must have a working knowledge of Polyworks programming and reporting, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T), and be able to read blueprints.
* Must be proficient in the use of computers in the analysis of data.
* Must be capable of putting together and giving presentations within the company as well as to customers when required.
* Must possess a working knowledge of manufacturing process control.
* Familiarity with CWB standards (asset)
* Knowledge of weld symbols and weld quality inspection (asset)
* Verifying jogs/fixtures, checking weld sizes, confirming fit-up before welding experience (asset)
* Proficiency in Faro arm and Polyworks software.
* Proficiency in using hand tools for precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Working Conditions
* Work is performed in a manufacturing and quality lab environment.
* May involve exposure to machinery, noise, and occasional lifting of parts or equipment.
* Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
* Standing/Walking in production environment.
* Exposure to grinding, welding fumes, hot/cold conditions.
