Overview
We are investing in our Procurement Service, moving to a Procurement Category Manager Service and are looking to recruit a Procurement Category Manager to join our team to support corporate services and ICT Procurement.
Responsibilities
* lead, direct and co-ordinate procurement activity and ensure effective contract and supplier relationship management to maximise value for money and deliver targeted savings within the assigned category/sub-categories, which include (but are not limited to): cleaning products, office supplies, PPE, travel, energy, translation, and supporting service teams in Legal & Governance, Finance & Procurement, Democratic Services, Policy & Performance, Customer Contact and ICT
* have direct line manager responsibility for a Procurement Officer
* deliver an effective and efficient procurement service for the Council
Qualifications and Skills
* knowledge and practical experience of procurement processes, regulations, policies and contract procedure rules
* ability to develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and internal and external stakeholders
* willingness to undertake new challenges and work flexibly and proactively as part of a team
Additional Information
We welcome applications from non-Welsh speakers. All successful applicants requiring support to learn/improve their Welsh language skills will be offered funded lessons, during work time, to help reach the desired standard.

Finance and Procurement – We ensure the Council remains financially resilient through careful and responsible monitoring of funds, effective corporate procurement, prompt and accurate payments of financial assessments/creditors and timely collection of local taxation/debts. Canolfan Rheidol – Our Aberystwyth office, Canolfan Rheidol is an award-winning building. The office, with its open plan design, provides an excellent space for collaborative working.
