Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations management team. In this role you will work closely with our self‑employed Owner Drivers (ODs) and employed drivers, building strong relationships, keeping drivers engaged, well managed and motivated to ensure outstanding service delivery.
* Ensure depot target for Core Routes is achieved
* Ensure depot target Stops Per Route (SPR) is achieved
* Ensure all other delivery & collection routes are properly set
* Ensure all drivers scan and load their vans for delivery safely, timely and efficiently
* Maintain ongoing communication with drivers to resolve any issues
* Ensure adequate resources are available to guarantee any ad‑hoc collections via your pool of drivers or couriers/agencies
* Ensure all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements
* Set Key Performance Indicators including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport and Health and Safety
* Achieve “Depot Clear” in line with depot targets
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with proven people management experience in a fast‑paced operation, ideally within a transport setting, and who can:
* Communicate effectively, inspiring, motivating and managing a team
* Make decisive and effective decisions, resolve problems and manage time efficiently
* Show resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility in a dynamic environment
* Demonstrate strong computer skills and the ability to use Google Chrome applications
* Carry out comprehensive reporting and data analysis
* Act vigilantly against unscrupulous activity, taking swift action
