An established UK manufacturer is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to its site engineering team. The role focuses on maintaining plant and facilities to a high standard, reducing downtime, and supporting safe, efficient production operations.
Key responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across plant and site facilities
* Reduce equipment downtime while maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards
* Support the ongoing improvement of machinery reliability and site performance
* Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety and environmental standards
* Record and close maintenance tasks accurately using a computerised maintenance system
* Work closely with production, engineering and support teams across the site
* Assist with engineering improvements and cost‑effective repair solutions
* Contribute to achieving site targets for output, quality and safety
Requirements
* Time served mechanical apprenticeship
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
* Strong mechanical fault‑finding capability
* Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Exposure to TPM and planned preventative maintenance systems
* Good awareness of health, safety and environmental practices
* Comfortable supporting others within a team environment
* Confident using IT systems for reporting and documentation
* Welding experience, MIG and MMA
* Previous experience in a senior or lead maintenance capacity
