Job Summary
Join our welcoming and dynamic Pharmacy team at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust as a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician (15 hours per week, permanent). This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail‑focused individual to be part of a supportive and well‑established team. Our busy hospital pharmacy plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality care across Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, and Community Health services.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispense inpatient, outpatient, clinical trial, and controlled drug prescriptions in line with standard operating procedures.
* Support the safe and timely supply of medicines by resolving queries and coordinating patient discharges.
* Assist in the delivery of the clozapine service.
* Use pharmacy IT systems for dispensing, stock control, and medicines management processes.
* Participate in medicines management activities, including patient drug histories and assessing patients’ own medicines.
* Accuracy‑checking within a technician‑led dispensary.
* Support patient counselling and promote medicines adherence.
* Provide support to wards using the Trust’s ePrescribing system.
* Assist with the daily running of the dispensary, including workflow coordination and query resolution.
* Work flexible contracted hours Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
Qualifications & Experience
* Successfully completed a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician qualification or equivalent.
* Strong organisational, communication, and computer skills with the ability to work accurately and proactively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
* Experience with pharmacy IT systems, dispensing, stock control or medicines management preferred.
Other Requirements
Disclosure and Barring Service check required. The role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Applicants must have permission to work in the UK. For all jobs the cost of any DBS disclosure required will be met by the individual; this will be deducted from salary once started. Applicants at risk within the local NHS who meet essential criteria will have preference for interview.
