Our Internal Equity team manages £13bn of assets invested directly into equity markets across diverse regions including the UK, Global Equities, Emerging Markets, and Listed Alternatives.
The team is expanding, and we are recruiting for a Japan Equity Co-Portfolio Manager to work closely with the existing Equity Portfolio management team to influence the performance of a key investment strategy.
About the Role:
This role supports the Japan Equity portfolio manager by being a key decision-maker in the day-to-day management of the Japan Equity portfolio. You will also be an active member of the Equity Investment Team.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting detailed fundamental research on companies within the Japan Equity market and generating investment recommendations aligned with Border to Coast’s investment philosophy and process.
2. Collaborating with analysts to evaluate existing and potential investments for the Japan equity portfolio.
3. Implementing investment recommendations and shaping portfolio construction to optimize risk-adjusted returns.
4. Participating actively in investment team meetings, company meetings, and conferences.
5. Engaging with the Portfolio Risk and Responsible Investment teams to ensure an integrated investment approach.
6. Writing investment thought pieces and briefs on relevant events and market outlooks.
7. Building long-term, open, and collaborative relationships with Partner Funds.
About You:
* You will have prior investment management experience. Knowledge of Japanese equity markets is advantageous.
* You possess a strong interest in investment markets, long-term investing, and responsible investment and sustainability principles.
* You have excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
* You are a strong communicator with high integrity and trustworthiness, able to synthesize conflicting information clearly.
* You are a problem solver capable of making decisions with imperfect information, familiar with financial income, cash flow, and balance sheet models.
* You demonstrate planning, organization, data management, and effective communication skills.
* You are proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload while supporting team members.
* You hold a degree and a relevant investment management or professional qualification.
