An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the clinical team within Respiratory Medicine as a Senior Clinical Fellow at BHRUT. The post is suitable for an IMT3/ST3 trainee in General Medicine planning to pursue a career in Respiratory Medicine, General/Acute Medicine, or Infectious diseases (ID). The post is initially for a one-year period with the option of extending further if mutually agreeable. This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of Respiratory Medicine including Lung cancer, airways disease, Pleural disease, Thoracic ultrasound, and bronchoscopy. In addition, the post will provide experience in managing acute Respiratory failure including CPAP and NIV.
The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by The Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. The Trust has the required arrangements in place, to ensure that all doctors have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and supports doctors going through the revalidation process.
This post will give an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy Respiratory department whilst working within the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team working in the respiratory department for the provision of medical care to the patients on the unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery of comprehensive care for patients admitted to the Respiratory unit, provide in-reach into the Medical Assessment Unit and the wards, perform Bronchoscopy/pleural procedures with appropriate consultant supervision, and undertake outpatient respiratory clinics. There will be plenty of opportunities also to conduct Quality Improvement projects, Audit and Research.

Qualifications
* Completion of at least MRCP part 1 and/or part 2 written (or equivalent)
* At least 2 years’ experience in hospital medicine at the SHO or equivalent, including at least 6 months in Respiratory medicine, and experience of leading an acute medical take as registrar
* Has previously worked in the NHS
* Full MRCP PACES
* >1 year experience of Respiratory Medicine at SHO level. Experience in Respiratory outpatients clinics
* Experience in teaching/ mentoring medical students/ junior doctors
