Job Description:
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, ensuring continuous access to cloud services through servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. We work on challenging problems with many variables and are looking for talented individuals to join us.
You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will involve ensuring the optimal operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in the data center, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response. You will be the main point of contact for facility operations within the data center.
You should be capable of managing large-scale projects from conception to completion, collaborating with engineering, automation, procurement, and finance teams across global settings. Responsibilities include creating milestones, managing costs, and documenting project outcomes to inform future implementations. The goal is to drive innovation, resilience, and cost reduction.
Key job responsibilities
* Train and support the engineering team in troubleshooting and operations of electrical and mechanical equipment.
* Implement site-specific training exercises covering equipment like generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, etc.
* Oversee daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Operate independently with limited management oversight.
* Assist in designing and building new facilities and analyzing equipment failures.
* Act as escalation point for facilities issues and support site stability, including working overtime as needed.
* Troubleshoot and report facility and server-level events within SLAs.
* Create and enforce standard practices for engineering operations and vendor support.
* Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
Physical requirements
* Work at heights and from ladders.
* Perform physical tasks during shifts.
* Work in noisy environments with ear protection.

Basic qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
* Extensive industry experience with UPS, backup generators, and mechanical infrastructure.
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications
* BS7671 18th Edition.
* High/Low Voltage Authorized Person experience.
* Experience supporting data center or mission-critical facilities.
* Knowledge of network design and low voltage cabling.
