Brand Content Manager (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a Brand Content Manager to join our Marketing, Recruitment and Communications team, supporting the delivery of high-impact, audience-focused content across the University.
Role Summary
In this role, you will lead the creation and delivery of compelling, insight-led content that supports student recruitment, strengthens the University’s brand, and enhances engagement across the full student lifecycle. You will work closely with colleagues across Content, Campaigns, CRM and Events teams to ensure content is strategic, high quality and aligned to University priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a brand‑led content strategy to support student recruitment across undergraduate, postgraduate, home and international markets.
* Lead and manage a team of Content Officers, setting objectives, priorities and supporting high performance.
* Oversee the creation of high‑quality, engaging content across multiple channels including digital, email, print, video and events.
* Use insights, data and performance metrics to optimise content and drive conversion across the prospective student journey.
* Collaborate with internal teams including Campaigns, CRM, Events and Web to deliver integrated, audience‑focused content.
* Manage content budgets and external creative agencies, ensuring value for money and high production standards.
* Establish best practice in content creation, governance, accessibility and contributor management.
* Support content development for student engagement, alumni relations and external partnerships.
* Monitor sector trends and drive innovation and continuous improvement in content strategy and delivery.
Essential Requirements
* Strong experience in marketing and student recruitment within a higher education environment.
* Proven experience of developing and delivering brand and content strategies, using insights to inform and influence strategic decisions, and managing complex, multi-channel content production.
* Experience of managing design, print, photography and video production across large‑scale and complex projects.
* Experience of leading and developing high-performing teams at management level.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
* Strong creative judgement, with experience approving copy and visual content.
* In-depth understanding of brand, tone of voice and writing for different audiences.
Desirable Requirements
* Extensive knowledge of content-led marketing and multi-channel campaign delivery.
* Strong copywriting, editing and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Deep understanding of student recruitment in the higher education sector.
* Experience of providing marketing leadership and advice to non-marketing colleagues.
* Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., data protection, CMA guidance, copyright).
* Experience in social media marketing, analytics and performance reporting.
* Experience producing press releases, scripts or award submissions.
