The GSI business specializes in selling DC transmission systems globally, managing Project Management, Construction, and Commissioning of HVDC Onshore and Offshore projects.
HVDC technology is used for long-distance electricity transmission and submarine cable power transfer, as well as connecting power systems.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
* Lead the testing and commissioning of assigned HVDC projects, adhering to best practices and GE Vernova safety standards.
* Prepare commissioning teams and resources to carry out testing and commissioning as per project plans and documented procedures.
* Coordinate with Project Commissioning Managers, product line experts, and client counterparts to ensure effective site operations.
* Ensure protocols are established with Construction and Installation teams for smooth equipment turnover, focusing on HVDC components like valves and transformers.
* Manage diverse commissioning teams across GSI, PDG, and product lines, including transformers, GIS, reactors, etc.
* Oversee testing and commissioning of EHV/HV substations and offshore auxiliary systems.
* Ensure proper commissioning and troubleshooting of auxiliary systems such as batteries, UPS, HVAC, and fire systems.
* Configure and test control & protection networks, relay settings, and IEDs in various substation configurations.
* Coordinate telecom, HMI, and SCADA commissioning activities.
* Organize overall commissioning of HVDC Grid Connection Systems, including offshore integration and trial runs.
* Report progress to project management and control budgets effectively.
* Validate commissioning test reports and manage commissioning assets efficiently.
* Handle handover procedures and ensure accurate as-built documentation.
* Prior experience with HVDC systems and fault analysis is advantageous.
* Commit to continuous learning in HVDC testing and commissioning practices.
Your Background:
* Significant experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of HV power networks.
* Knowledge of control & protection systems, substation automation, and HV equipment testing.
* Experience with HVDC/FACTS systems, HV cables, and system validation.
* Familiarity with contract review and tender estimation.
* Proficiency with Office tools.
Training & Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
* GWO offshore certification capability.
* Leadership skills for managing diverse teams.
* Valid UK driving license.
