£14.00 - £15.00 per hour, dependent on experience
Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours/week
Shift: Mon - Fri, 8am - 4.30pm
Note: A full driving license is required for this role

Role Overview
As a Maintenance Operative, your main responsibility is to ensure our facilities are fully functional. You will maintain buildings and equipment in compliance with Bupa SOPs, legislation, and industry standards. The role may include providing maintenance support to other nearby care homes within a reasonable distance (no more than 1 hour from your usual workplace).
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out health, safety, and compliance checks using digital systems as per SOPs and management tools.
2. Address and close tasks assigned by the Maintenance or Home Manager using Bupa's systems.
3. Maintain safety and cleanliness standards in the care home and grounds, aligned with relevant health and safety regulations.
4. Complete maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, ensuring timely completion and value for money.
5. Document and act on residents’ preferences regarding their personal spaces.
6. Report defects, obtain quotes, and manage repairs with approved contractors, following SOPs.
7. Report irreparable defects to the appropriate manager.
8. Manage refurbishment and CAPEX projects with minimal disruption.
9. Maintain and securely store tools and equipment.
10. Assist with induction of new staff regarding emergency procedures and equipment use.
Candidate Requirements
* Understanding of building services (heating, water systems, ventilation, electrical, plumbing).
* Knowledge of building fabric maintenance.
* Experience with planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
* Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements.
* Full driving license.
* Qualification in building/electrical/plumbing or a minimum of 3 years hands-on maintenance experience.
* Ability to work well in a team and be flexible.
* Practical skills in painting and decorating.
