Systems Engineer
Christchurch (hybrid working 3 days onsite per week onsite) – 12 month contract – Pay rate £53.73 p/h PAYE basic (£62.57 p/h including holiday pay) or £72.54 p/h Umbrella
We are looking to recruit a Systems Engineer to work for our defence client on communication systems. Customers increasingly demand information and technology solutions delivering advantage, communications, planning, operations and cyber protection. Communications and Networks under Innovation and Technology within Digital Intelligence is where we design and build cutting edge IT solutions for incorporation into products and services.
Typical responsibilities:
Providing Systems Engineering support to business development activities, including study/experimentation activities, system de-risking activities
Development and implementation of technical solutions that meet the customer requirements
Provision of realistic estimates for specified activities to the development lead
Accurately report on progress
Complete work to a high standard and to scope, quality and budget
Support System Integration Activities
Requirements:
A strong Systems Engineering background
A good understanding of the complete systems engineering lifecycle (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, integration and testing, acceptance), and development tools (e.g. Requirements Management, Modelling and defect reporting systems)
Willingness to adapt to the variety of engineering tasks within the project and enthusiasm to extend own knowledge to support this
Background in providing engineering input and support to business development activities would be an advantage
A background in Communications, (voice, data and radio products) is highly desirable
Demonstrable knowledge in some or all of the following would be especially desirable, in particular their applications in a military context:
Communications technologies: IP networking (including network design), VOIP, Point-to-Point radio links, 4G mobile technologies, network security, network management
Software Operating Systems (Linux, VM Environments)
A good understanding of designing equipment to meet stringent environmental requirements such as EMC, Environmental etc. would be advantageous
Understanding of Design Certification and Product Safety Processes
Must be flexible and be prepared to work outside of normal office hours (if required) and occasional off site working.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate will need to hold a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level prior to starting, the client will sponsor a new application if you are not currently cleared.
