The Role:
As a New Business Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading and motivating a team of commercial underwriters. Your focus will be on driving high performance, fostering a culture of development and collaboration, and ensuring exceptional service to our broker partners. You will be highly supportive and engaging leader who can lead indirectly, virtually and via others.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve business targets.
* Drive the team to Secure new business in line with the underwriting appetite and strategy.
* Foster a positive and high-performing team culture with a strong focus on accountability and results.
* Monitor and analyse operational delivery and team performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to maximise new business opportunities.
* Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.
* Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, offering guidance and providing feedback.
* Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement new business strategies.
* Support the team in negotiating and securing new business.
* Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness to broker enquiries.
* Work with internal stakeholders to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
* Report on team performance and key business metrics to Underwriting Service Manager.
Skills:
* Proven experience leading a team within a commercial underwriting or insurance environment.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a high-performing team.
* A results driven mindset with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
* Ability to make recommendations to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
* Excellent relationship management skills, particularly with brokers and stakeholders.
* Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the UK insurance market.
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills to drive performance improvements.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
