Overview
Senior Planner role at Balfour Beatty plc. Drive the future of infrastructure with a construction powerhouse that puts people and progress first. As a Senior Planner, you’ll be empowered to push boundaries, influence major civil projects, and grow your expertise across some of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure schemes. You’ll be based in the Wokingham office, joining the Regional Civils division to lead planning on a pivotal project: the main works of the Wokingham Distributor Road/A34 and Oxfordshire.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring that the programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
* Identify planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements alongside identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme.
* Tender: collaboratively develop and agree on a strategic and optimized sequence and methodology for efficient design, procurement, and construction delivery.
* Produce and document comprehensive planning deliverables, including programs, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports. Develop the Tender Programme and supporting information with adherence to tender requirements.
* At the contract stage, produce, manage, and maintain the Contract Programme, adhering to planning procedures and working with the Planning/Project Lead to optimize planning elements.
* Display and evaluate the project critical path, advise the project team, maintain baselines, and execute change control where appropriate.
* Resource management: manage labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to achieve project objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
* Contract management: manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitor performance, and resolve issues.
* Strategic planning oversight and mentorship: provide strategic planning oversight and mentor less experienced planners, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
* Data analysis: help produce project data and KPIs to track progress, identify deviations, and enable data-driven decisions.
Qualifications
* Significant experience of planning services – ideally within construction
* Knowledge of planning techniques and planning toolsets
* Understanding of tender documents, contracts and specifications
* Understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring
* Ability to work with and support a planning team; strong teamwork mindset
* Ability to develop relationships and earn trust to drive team performance
* Resilience and adaptability as plans evolve and decisions are needed
