Support Worker - Sedgefield Mental Health Supported Accommodation, West Cornforth

Fixed Term, 12 months – Full Time (37.5 hpw) £24,638 per annum

Want to be part of a team that really cares and empowers you to help change a customer’s life for the better? As our Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex mental health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. You’ll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations.


Typical day as a Support Worker

* Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
* Supporting customers to achieve tenancy management and independent living.
* Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if able.
* Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
* Team time: Cuppas, chats and catch ups. Plenty of time to work together with colleagues.


You bring

* Passion to support customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail.
* Experience of caring for others – may have worked in care or caring for family members or children.
* Ability to work on own initiative, remain calm under pressure and adopt a resilient approach.
* Recognise every customer is different and adapt a flexible, personal approach, listening to understand needs.
* Vehicle insured for business purposes – mileage paid.


Job details

* Working on a rota – 37.5 hours over 7 days per week.
* Shift pattern: 08:00–16:00 / 12:00–20:00 / 13:15–21:15 (concierge covers the waking nights).
* Flexible start and finish times to meet customer needs.
* Confident using technology for plans, online learning and teamwork.
* Enhanced DBS check – paid.
