Senior EC&I Engineer
A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior EC&I Engineer to join a well-established engineering company delivering complex projects in the defence sector, supporting highly regulated and safety-critical programmes.
The Senior EC&I Engineer will be responsible for producing high-quality electrical, control and instrumentation designs across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning.
Working within a multi-discipline design team, you will deliver EC&I engineering packages for assigned equipment and systems, as directed by the Integration Manager and Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
EC&I Design & Delivery
* Produce EC&I design documentation including SLDs, BCDs, cable schedules and layouts
* Develop control system hardware and software designs
* Deliver functional safety designs in line with BS EN 61508 & 61511
* Produce and maintain the LTQR / Technical File in line with quality management systems
* Ensure designs address operability, maintainability and safety
* Deliver designs in line with project programmes and budgets
* Produce design justification and substantiation reports
* Develop FDS, SIDDs and Functional Safety Plans
* Produce drawings, specifications and work instructions to support manufacturing
* Review and check in-house and subcontractor design outputs
* Produce EC&I technical specifications
* Prepare and support FAT and SAT documentation
* Manage EC&I subcontract suppliers
* Attend and witness commissioning activities
* Create and interpret drawings using AutoCAD
About You
You will bring:
* Proven EC&I design experience
* Strong knowledge of control systems, hardware and software
* Experience working with functional safety standards (IEC 61508 / 61511)
* Ability to produce clear, structured engineering reports and technical documentation
* Current SC clearance is essential, and the ability to obtain DV clearance is desirable
* Desirable:
o Safety interlock design
o HVAC control systems
o DV clearance
