About the Role We are looking for a capable and driven Head of Health and Safety to take the lead at a high-performing manufacturing site with a reputation for excellence in both food safety and workplace health & safety. This site has been recognised with national awards and holds one of the highest internal compliance audit ratings within the group. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance, ensuring site-wide engagement and legal adherence in a complex, fast-paced bakery environment. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, quality, and technical, driving safe behaviours and supporting audit readiness, training, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in environments where they can make a visible impact, build capability, and drive cultural change. The Role Lead all aspects of Health, Safety & Environmental strategy on site Drive standards beyond baseline compliance to a mature, high-performing culture Take ownership of environmental compliance, including waste and water management Act as the key on-site HSE leader, supporting and developing site capability Deliver training and upskill teams where gaps exist Work across site and operational counters (1-2 days/week initially) Split focus: 80% on-site, 20% supporting wider operations About You NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) with progression toward Diploma or Environmental qualification Strong working knowledge of both H&S and Environmental compliance Experience in food manufacturing preferred (poultry ideal), though FMCG, waste, or water backgrounds will be considered HACCP / food safety knowledge is advantageous Familiar with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards Internal audit experience desirable Proven ability to improve compliance, deliver change, and influence site culture Hands-on, credible, and confident operating at site level Why Apply?
