Overview
We have an opportunity for you to join our Oncology Services at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust as a Macmillan Oncology Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are seeking a dynamic, inspirational and forward-thinking nurse who is passionate about cancer nursing and able to drive the Service forward. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care for all patients and will be integral in coordinating and organising lung cancer pathways throughout treatment, symptom management, relapse, emergency admissions and living with and beyond cancer. The post holder will also work in a consultancy capacity across our Trust and local health care services.
The post holder will act as an autonomous nurse specialist, developing and delivering nurse-led services within oncology lung cancer. This will include telephone, face-to-face activity and inpatient reviews. The role is primarily based at the University Hospitals site, with travel to Rugby St Cross for outpatient clinics and to our Maple Day Unit for sessions as required.
Responsibilities
* Establish and provide a specialist nursing service for the care and ongoing management of patients diagnosed with lung cancers undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), Radiotherapy and supportive treatments.
* Participate in high-quality care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up, making informed decisions within your scope of professional practice to meet agreed standards and targets.
* Develop and implement opportunities for advancing nursing practice and fostering collaborative working relationships, incorporating expert clinical practice, leadership, consultation and education.
* Co-ordinate and lead activities to ensure effective lung cancer pathways and patient care across treatment settings.
* Deliver nurse-led services in both remote (telephone) and in-person formats, including inpatient reviews.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Extensive experience in Oncology with strong leadership, management and communication skills.
* Ability to drive service development and coordinate lung cancer pathways across treatment, symptom management, relapse, and admissions; willingness to travel between sites as required.
* Enthusiasm, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
