Job Title: Contracts Engineer

Salary: £40,000-£50,000 per annum + Benefits
Location: West Cumbria
Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours per Week – Office Based 3 days per week / 2 days
Role Overview
We are looking for a candidate who can provide legal and commercial advice and ensure contractual standards are being applied within the company, including clarifying the arrangements for commercial input. The role reports directly into the Head of Supply Chain and covers ethics, compliance & data protection for the company.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft and negotiate MOUs, Confidentiality Agreements, and other general business agreements.
* Draft subcontract agreements.
* Review terms and conditions and ITTs received from prospective customers and draft legal opinions for governance purposes; liaise with legal counsel when required.
* Oversee and maintain client terms and conditions to ensure legal compliance.
* Draft responses to commercial issues raised by potential customers or suppliers.
* Prepare commercial correspondence to customers/subcontractors to support project managers and maintain our commercial position.
* Coordinate with the procurement department on requirements.
* Handle contract variations and claims with suppliers and clients under the supervision of the Commercial Manager.
* Provide legal, ethical, and commercial training to employees.
* Assist the Head of Supply Chain & Support Services with dispute resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Legal, Procurement, or Commercial.
* Knowledge and experience of contractual best practice.
* Strong knowledge of Commercial & Contractual law; experience with NEC, JCT, or FIDIC preferred.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
