Overview
Location: Gravesend, GB. This is a permanent role within Network Rail High Speed, working as a Technician in Signalling. The role involves outdoor maintenance to keep the railway running safely and efficiently for passengers and freight users. The position offers training to develop both technical and non-technical skills and opportunities for progression within the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Provide the essential link between the team leader and the team\'s operatives.
* Specialise as a Signalling technician and contribute to inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques relevant to the discipline.
* Work outdoors in all conditions, often transporting kit across varied terrain, and operate safely and in accordance with relevant standards.
* Lead the team when asked by the team leader and ensure the team has the right competencies to meet safety standards.
* Model safe working behaviours, challenge potential safety risks, and ensure everyone goes home safe every day.
* Commit to self-development and continuous learning; undertake training provided to progress within rail roles.
* Collaborate with the team to maintain the railway network and support safe, reliable operations for passengers and freight users.
What We’re Looking For / Qualifications
* Leadership: able to lead, motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
* Effective communicator: strong communication skills to deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues.
* Technical skills: knowledge and experience of inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques in the applicable discipline.
* Safety: consistently model safe behaviours, implement safe systems of work, and challenge if a situation is unsafe.
* Problem solver: persistent in finding safe and effective solutions and keeping up to date with standards and procedures.
* Willingness to learn: ongoing development of skills and competencies relevant to the discipline.
* Relevant qualification: ideally NVQ Level 1 or 2 related to the discipline, or equivalent experience.
Shifts, Site & Travel
* Shifts involve changing patterns including days, nights and weekends.
* Outdoor working in all weathers; comfortable working in different conditions.
* Driving licence (category B) required to drive Network Rail vehicles.
* Within a 60-minute commute of the applying location.
What We Can Offer / Pay
Salary within the following pay range: Maintenance Grade: Infrastructure Maintainer 1 – 5, £42,212 + Outer London Allowance. Benefits are described on the company site.

* The role is based at Singlewell; frequent travel to other office/site locations along the High Speed line is expected.
