Role: Principal Environmental Permitting Advisor
Overview
You will join the Water Quality Environmental Permitting team to lead on complex permitting applications, support regulatory compliance, and develop the knowledge of a team of technical professionals. The team provides services and guidance across the business to ensure permit applications, variations and queries are delivered on time, liaising with engineers, modellers and compliance specialists.
Responsibilities
* Lead on complex and innovative environmental permitting schemes, ensuring they meet business requirements.
* Represent the Environmental Permitting team in collaboration with Compliance, Modelling and Engineering to collate data and evidence for complex Environmental Permits.
* Lead the delivery of an Environmental Permitting training programme to develop the technical skills of junior team members.
* Manage the permitting database and related systems to enable effective company-wide use.
* Ensure knowledge of current and future Environmental Permitting legislation is shared across the permitting team and the wider business.
* Assist the Environmental Permitting Manager with prioritisation of permit applications and team resource management.
* Deputise for the Environmental Permitting Manager when required.
* Conduct occasional site audits and drive improvement actions.
What you'll need
* A good understanding of Environmental Permitting Regulations and their practical implementation.
* Passion for developing the technical knowledge and experience of the team, with strong verbal and written communication skills adaptable to different audiences.
* Innovative and positive approach.
In Addition, We Are Looking For
* A degree or equivalent in a STEM subject.
* Understanding of wastewater, sewerage and water supply processes and the associated regulations.
* Experience in environmental permitting, in the water industry or another regulated sector.
* Experience with GIS software and data collation/presentation.
* A full clean driving licence.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location, travel & work pattern
The role is based at the head office in Bath, with a mix of home and office working. Some travel to sites across the Wessex Water region is expected.
