Hitachi is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support strategic sourcing activities across the UK market. The role will manage strategic sourcing work for the local UK market, ensuring risk is managed and the value and resilience of materials and services sourcing is optimized.
Establish supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals and programs. The candidate will also negotiate contracts, coordinate supplier integration plans with internal clients, and monitor market dynamics that impact materials and services availability and pricing.
This opportunity will be office‑based in Stone, Staffordshire.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Supports the development and implementation of regional/global sourcing strategies in close alignment with the regional/global Category leader.
* Negotiates agreements for local/regional requirements, or global requirements when directed, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions.
* Runs benchmark studies for the category team and for specific sourcing initiatives. Applies Hitachi Energy CIPS methodology.
* Creates local contract amendments to frame agreements on behalf of a country and stores, updates and maintains frame contracts according to the Contract Management process.
* Supports regional/global sourcing initiatives within a defined set of categories, working closely with key stakeholders to implement regional category strategies.
* Onboards new suppliers in close collaboration with the respective local buyer and supplier quality. Runs regular supplier evaluations and provides supplier reports to businesses and category managers.
* Contributes to and participates in setting and implementing budget and targets within the framework. Ensures the Category sourcing performance targets are achieved.
* Fosters communication internally, externally, and between different divisions, business units and functions and supports the implementation of Supply Chain Management activities and initiatives in the region/country through clear communication.
Background
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, ideally within energy, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
* Experience in supplier onboarding, evaluation, and performance management.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across functions (e.g., engineering, operations, finance).
* Familiarity with procurement methodologies with a focus on tendering, project execution, and operations planning.
* Strong knowledge of project business, sourcing strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
* Proven experience in negotiating pricing, terms, and long‑term agreements.
* Ability to conduct benchmark and market analysis, and experience managing budgets and cost‑saving initiatives.
