We are currently recruiting for an Laboratory Attendant based in Cookstown. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months with a possibility of extension
Rate of pay: £13.41
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9-5 37 hours a week
Key Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Laboratory Attendant is to maintain the laboratory in a clean and tidy state and assist scientific staff with experimental work as required. The main duties and responsibilities of the post holders include: • Maintaining the laboratory facilities in a clean and tidy state, including the cleaning of laboratory equipment, worktops, cupboards, fridges, freezers, glassware and safe disposal of contaminated waste. • Assisting in experimental laboratory work, including the preparation of laboratory media and preparation of laboratory samples. • Maintaining stocks of chemicals, media and other consumable supplies within the laboratories. • Following COSHH and Health and Safety requirements in undertaking all laboratory duties. This list is not exhaustive and the successful candidate will be required to carry out other duties as allocated by management.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:
have studied a science subject, which includes laboratory work, to at least GCSE/GCE “O” level standard.
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered by the selection panel to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
Proof of 2 GCSEs English and Maths grade C or above or the equivalent to this.
Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to use own initiative.
