Essential Requirements
* Education: Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4, including Maths, English Language, and Science (or equivalent qualifications).
* Right to Work: Eligible to work in the UK and resident for at least 3 years.
* Commitment: Willing and able to complete a 2-year programme; must recognise that withdrawal mid-course results in loss of funding.
* Study Requirements: Able to commit to approx. 600 units of study (≈6 hours per week, 30 hours per month). This includes:
o 2 hours weekly live online sessions
o 4 hours weekly independent work (notes, assignments, in-pharmacy activities)
* IT Skills: Confident using IT systems, online learning platforms, and digital communication tools.
* Learning Ability: Proven ability to learn, absorb detail, and apply knowledge to practical situations.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
* Healthcare Interest: Genuine interest in healthcare, medicines, and patient safety.
* Patient Focus: Strong communication skills with a patient-centred approach; able to reassure, explain clearly, and handle queries.
* Resilience: Determined, self-motivated, and able to balance work with study demands over two years.
* Teamwork: Able to work collaboratively with pharmacists and wider pharmacy staff.
* Growth Mindset: Keen to develop into a Pharmacy Technician and Accuracy Checking Technician role, with ambition for medium- to long-term career progression.
Additional Considerations
* Must understand the importance of confidentiality, professional standards, and regulatory compliance (as outlined by GPhC).
* Should demonstrate reliability, good organisational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
* Needs to be aware that training will involve structured on-the-job components.
