The Role
As Assistant Credit Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Credit Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Credit Control function. You'll help safeguard the company's financial health by ensuring customer compliance with credit limits, reducing bad debt, and driving process improvements across the team.

Key Responsibilities
1. Assist with managing the company's credit control function across multiple European offices.
2. Monitor and enforce customer compliance with credit limits and payment terms.
3. Recommend and arrange payment plans or legal action for high-risk debtors.
4. Report on the debtor ledger status to the Credit Manager.
5. Drive improvements in debtor ageing and monthly cash collections.
6. Reduce bad debt exposure and identify risks early.
7. Support the development and implementation of improved systems and processes.
8. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to resolve payment issues efficiently.
9. Collaborate with internal teams across sales, logistics, and finance to support smooth operations.
About You
Essential
10. 3-5 years' experience in credit control, finance, or a related role
11. Strong understanding of credit risk management and debt collection
12. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
13. Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail
14. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure
15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); experience with Dynamics, Sage, or similar systems
Desirable
16. Supervisory or team leadership experience
17. Background in the freight, logistics, or transport industry
18. Experience with cross-border credit management and foreign currency transactions
