Job Purpose
The post holder will provide finance support to the business, in particular covering accurate large volume data processing. Ensuring accurate and timely reporting and processing in relation to key areas of spend/revenue. Working closely with finance colleagues, to provide assurance to the wider finance function on validity and recording of transactions and spend.
Responsibilities
Extracting information from the financial system for completion of various timely reporting/processing and liaising with relevant colleagues to obtain further information on transactions as required.
Assist with compilation of accounting entries, checking for validity and accuracy, reviewing for completeness before passing on to Finance managers, within timelines set down.
Ownership of invoice/revenue processing in key areas, including, but not limited to large capital and revenue projects, utilities and cash receipts. Ensuring that correct process has been followed for approval and processing.
Assisting in the preparation for year end and with checking and recording information onto year-end schedules.
Provide cover for the other Finance Assistant posts across the HQ finance function as required including covering work within other SPS HQ departments.

Qualification Requirements
Five National 5 Qualifications, including English and Arithmetic/Mathematics or equivalent qualifications or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience. Essential
Hold a financial qualification or be working towards this e.g. AAT, CAT, HNC. Desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to analyse a wide range of information, making use of a variety of IT packages, including competency in Excel, word and outlook. Essential
