Overview

About Harris Garrard Academy is an all-through 3–18 academy with approximately 1350 pupils on roll. The academy joined the Harris Federation as a sponsored academy in September 2017. It is based in Thamesmead in a purpose-built building. We are on a journey towards “Outstanding”, led by experienced executive principals with proven track records of school transformation. Our vision is clear: nothing is impossible and everything is possible, irrespective of personal characteristics or background. Every problem has a solution. We believe we are more robust, resilient and determined as a team than as a group of individuals. We support, challenge and hold each other to account at all levels within the academy to ensure that our students achieve their potential, are motivated, engaged and fully prepared for life beyond our academy.

Summary

We are looking for a Family Support Worker that can support our Academy, parents and students at Harris Garrard Academy, with a focus on attendance.


Main Responsibilities

* Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with families to support student attendance and engagement
* Conducting home visits to understand family circumstances and provide tailored support
* Facilitating communication between the school and families, ensuring that parents/guardians are informed and involved in their child\'s education
* Identifying students with poor attendance and working with their families to develop and implement attendance improvement plans
* Monitoring and tracking attendance data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions


Qualifications & Experience

* High quality ICT skills (and a willingness to undertake training when required), used to promote effective administration, organisation, communication and management
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
* The ability to quickly gain and maintain credibility and rapport with managers and staff across the school
* A good telephone manner and professional image
* Good organisational and interpersonal skills which indicate a warm, efficient and hospitable manner to all
* Excellent listening and communication skills and sensitivity in complex situations
