Overview Stirling Swimming, a top Scottish competitive swimming club established in 1976, is seeking a highly motivated Age Group Development Coach. The successful candidate will work alongside the Development Lead Coach and the wider team to lead, develop, and execute well-structured, inclusive training programs for age group swimmers at the Club. The focus is on developing athletes’ technical ability, fostering a competitive spirit, and ensuring progression through the club’s development pathway. Purpose of the Role To lead the technical development and competitive preparation of age-group swimmers (typically ages 10–14). The coach will bridge the gap between Development and Potential Squads by focusing on stroke mechanics, skills, and competitive ethos. Key Responsibilities Session Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions focused on the four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and underwater skills. Athlete Development: Provide an environment that enables swimmers to reach their full potential within the squads, ensuring continuous swimmer development through the club pathway. Athlete Development: Focus on enhancing technical skills, competitive performance, and overall team spirit. Apply the Scottish Swimming Optimal Athlete Development Framework (OADF) to ensure swimmers progress in line with national standards Competition Support: Attend and provide coaching at meets and internal club galas Administration: Track attendance, monitor swimmer progression against Squad Criteria, and liaise with the Head Coach and Development Lead Coach regarding squad promotions Communication: Maintain professional relationships with swimmers, parent volunteers and the club committee, providing regular feedback on swimmer progress Qualifications & Requirements Coaching Certificate: Minimum Scottish Swimming Coach Qualification Level 1, with a strong preference for Level 2/SSCQ Safeguarding: Will be required to hold a valid PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate and complete Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport training Skills: Strong motivational skills, technical expertise in age-group swimming, and the ability to work effectively within a volunteer-led committee structure. Desirable Attributes Background in competitive swimming, ideally with knowledge of competition calendars.
