An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced physiotherapist to lead our team in West Hertfordshire.
Job is based in Hemel Hamstead and St Albans.
With proven skills in the management of musculoskeletal disorders, the post holder must have excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to teach and develop staff working within the service. The post holder will be encouraged and supported to develop their clinical, teaching, research, and managerial skills. The Band 8a Physiotherapy Team Leads are responsible for the coordination, delivery, and governance of the FCP services at Nexus Health. A cohesive team approach is maintained through an established in-service training program and regular staff meetings.
If you are an experienced MSK physiotherapist, who is able to work collaboratively, is keen to develop leadership skills and motivated to develop into a First Contact Physiotherapist role, this could be the post for you.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
1. Have NHS experience working in a similar role.
2. Work alongside other clinicians within the PCN as part of a multidisciplinary team
3. The successful candidate will need to be able to work autonomously to assess, manage and discharge a patient without referral to a GP where appropriate.
4. Must be able to advise on medications, order investigations and refer on to secondary care services where necessary.
5. Able to work via phone and face to face.
6. Must be able to give joint injections.
7. Must be aware of FCP implementation guide -
8. Must have finished MSK primary care module on Health Education England E Learning module. (
This post will involve travel between the PCN practices and other venues to help fulfil the role.
About us
Nexus Health Limited is working in partnership with West hertfordshire PCNs providing First Contact Physiotherapy service to over 10 PCNs across West Hertfordshire and Berkshire.
The first contact physiotherapist role supports the delivery of MSK assessment and signposting within primary care, working closely with our GP partners, and will be based at various GP surgeries in West Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will:
9. Provide an advanced level of clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, andmanagement of highly complex patients within primary care and implementing evidence based practice.
10. To work in conjunction with key partners in the planning, development, and delivery of specialist services.
11. To initiate, facilitate and participate in research and audit within the service.
12. To provide training, clinical supervision, mentorship and leadership to clinical staff working within primary care and community physiotherapy services.
13. To support the Locality Lead and Team Manager in planning and service development.
14. The successful candidate will need to be able to work autonomously as FCP to assess, manage and discharge a patient without referral to a GP where appropriate.
15. To monitor and maintain performance of clinical sub-team of physiotherapists
Clinical
16. To be a lead clinician within FCP and MSK services.
17. To undertake the comprehensive, advanced assessment of clients, including those with complex and/or chronic presentation using investigative and analytical skills and to formulate individualized management and treatment plans, using expert clinical reasoning and using a wide range of treatment skills and options to devise a specialized program of care.
18. Must be able to advise on medications, order investigations and refer on to secondary care services where necessary.
19. To take a lead role on clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service and offering specialist advice to assist in the implementation of service improvements.
20. To implement and evaluate the use of outcome measures as endorsed by clinical and professional guidelines and standards and clinical indicators in order to monitor clinical effectiveness, in liaison with other healthcare staff.

Leadership -
To lead and participate in the development of protocols and care pathways to facilitate best practices within MSK services, in line with local and national strategies.
To demonstrate leadership skills that can influence service improvements within the specialist field.
To lead and participate in regular research and development activities in the speciality area,
linking with regional and national initiatives and to disseminate audit and research findings at alllevels local, regional and national.
