Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (open to flexible working)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support the national coordination of safeguarding and culture change initiatives across sport. This is a fixed-term, national role focused on practical support, insight, and collaboration.
About the role:
This role supports a major national programme to improve safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will connect and coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, ensuring they have the tools, support, and relationships to succeed.
Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting operations, developing resources, and being a reliable contact to foster long-term cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Deliver the national Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively with the central team.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create internal reports to support programme understanding and improvement.
* Coordinate project activities, including meetings and events.
* Work with the communications team on large-scale events.
* Support the development of national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and reflect community needs.
* Maintain good administration and communication to keep tasks on track.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional and national events, including occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills—rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization—manage time effectively in a remote setting.
* Openness to collaboration with diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video calls, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times/month; overnight stays 3-4 times/year.
* Flexible working options considered.
