Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Joiner to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various construction techniques and be proficient in both fabrication and assembly tasks. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work with a variety of materials and tools to create high-quality joinery products. You. will play a crucial part in ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Essential skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Bench Joiner or Cabinet Maker.
* Strong woodworking skills – cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing wood.
* Use of hand tools and power tools (saws, planers, routers, chisels, drills, sanders, etc.).
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD plans.
* Knowledge of timber, sheet materials, veneers, and laminates.
* Precision measuring and marking out to tight tolerances.
* Assembly and fitting of bespoke joinery items (furniture, cabinets, doors, staircases, etc.).
* Meeting deadlines and project requirements
Desirable Skills
* Experience with CNC woodworking machinery.
* Understanding of finishing techniques (varnishing, staining, polishing, spraying).
* Knowledge of different joinery methods (dovetails, dowels, biscuits, etc.).
* Ability to work with bespoke, high-quality joinery projects.
Personal Qualities
* Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good problem-solving skills when working with complex designs.
* Commitment to health & safety practices in the workshop.
* Good time management to meet project deadlines. qualiifications
* NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Carpentry & Joinery / Bench Joinery.
* Apprenticeship background (preferred for skilled roles).
