HB Partners Limited is supporting a well-established organisation in Warwick with the appointment of an experienced Payroll Manager on a fixed-term maternity cover basis to start ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and can ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across a busy payroll function.
About the Role
As Payroll Manager, you will take full ownership of the payroll function, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining strict compliance with UK legislation.
Responsibilities
* Leading and managing the end-to-end payroll process
* Maintaining accurate payroll records including pay, benefits, overtime, and absences
* Reviewing and validating salary calculations provided by HR and managers
* Managing monthly and annual reporting cycles (HMRC, pensions, statutory returns)
* Overseeing annual pay reviews and salary benchmarking activities
* Ensuring compliance with PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP and other statutory requirements
* Preparing and submitting returns including FPS, EPS, P11Ds and year-end processes
* Supporting audits with accurate documentation and reporting
* Managing pension administration, including auto-enrolment and compliance
* Acting as the key point of contact for payroll queries across the organisation
* Driving process improvements, system upgrades, and automation initiatives
Experience / Skills
* Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or senior payroll position
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
* Experience managing pensions and auto-enrolment
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Confident working with payroll systems and improving processes
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
