Overview
We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and well‑organised individual to join the team of Medical Secretaries within the Respiratory Department at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Support a team of Respiratory Consultants and Nursing staff with administrative and secretarial tasks.
* Type clinic data and general correspondence, manage complex diaries and provide patient data.
* Deal with correspondence from patients, GPs and other sources, including scheduling appointments to ensure referral to treatment targets are met.
* Attend MDT meetings and coordinate all administrative tasks associated with them.
* Supervise the Assistant Medical Secretary and provide training and support when required.
Qualifications
* Excellent communication skills and relevant secretarial/admin experience.
* Proficient typing skills, particularly in audiotyping, and experience of digital dictation.
* Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
* Well‑organised with the ability to prioritise workload in a fast‑paced environment and work independently to meet strict deadlines.
