ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Technician to provide high-quality technical support for both research and teaching within the Mechanical and Construction Engineering and Architecture and Built Environment departments, with a particular focus on chemical and nanocomposite materials. You will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary technical team supporting a wide range of academic activities. In this role, you will take responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and ongoing development of our newly established laboratory, which specialises in the creation and testing of nanocomposite materials. You will support both students and staff in their learning and research and work closely with academic colleagues to ensure safe and effective procedures for handling hazardous materials. ABOUT THE TEAM The MCE/ABE technical team oversees the day-to-day running and safety of a variety of laboratories, workshops, and studios within the Faculty of Engineering and Environment. Working in close collaboration with academic staff, the team plays a vital role in delivering an excellent student experience through their support of teaching and research. ABOUT YOU Success in this role requires practical experience in a chemical lab and a strong working knowledge of nanomaterials. You will hold a degree or possess equivalent professional experience in one or more of the practice-based disciplines offered by the faculty. You should be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively and possess strong interpersonal skills. A thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation is essential, along with a proactive approach to promoting a positive safety culture.
