Personal Wellbeing Mentor

Salary: £24,806 plus benefits

Location: HMP Leeds / HMP Wealstun / Wakefield / Leeds probation offices. This role involves regular travel between sites; own transport is required.

Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Personal Wellbeing Mentor—someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation, and flexibility. Someone who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and proactively supporting someone on their journey.

You will work in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and may be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and take real steps toward transforming their life, it's a great feeling.

About the Role:

You will support individuals transitioning from prison back into the community. Through one-to-one support and group sessions, you will cover topics such as health and well-being, goal setting, and personal development to help rebuild their lives.

Your support doesn't stop at release—you'll continue to assist individuals in accessing vital services, such as registering with a GP, securing mental health support, setting up a bank account, and connecting with community groups. You will be there every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:

* Action Planning: Develop detailed support plans to address specific needs and barriers, helping individuals reintegrate through practical well-being activities.
* Caseload Management: Manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while maintaining accurate admin records.
* Advocacy and Signposting: Support participants in engaging with key services.
* Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all work on our IT system to track progress.
* Group Delivery: Set up and deliver engaging group sessions.

What We're Looking For:

* Relationship Building: Ability to connect genuinely with participants, probation services, and external stakeholders, fostering trust and a non-judgemental environment.
* Safeguarding Awareness: Ability to identify safeguarding risks when supporting complex individuals, with full support following challenging interventions.
* IT and Administrative Skills: Meticulous record-keeping of interactions to measure progress and ensure effective interventions.
* Resilience: Persistence and commitment, understanding that results may take time.

What We Offer:

At Ingeus, we support our employees' well-being with a comprehensive benefits package, including:

* 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to trade for additional leave
* 24/7 EAP support including 6 free counselling sessions
* Private medical insurance and life assurance
* Up to 2 days of community volunteering annually
* Eyecare vouchers
* Discounts via Perks at Work
* Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan
* Long service awards
* Salary Finance for financial advice
* Options to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance

While applications from those with lived experience are welcome, this role requires an Enhanced Level 1 DBS check. During the DBS process, you'll have opportunities to shadow colleagues, ask questions, and learn the role.

Our Justice division aims to transform lives, reduce reoffending, build stronger communities, and help individuals reach their potential.

About Ingeus:

We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive culture where everyone is treated with dignity, valued, and encouraged to grow. We support neurodiverse candidates and ensure an accessible application, screening, and interview process. For more details, contact us at jkumar@ingeus.co.uk.

If you think you have what it takes, don't delay—apply today!

Note: This role may close early if we receive a sufficient number of applications.
