Control Software Engineer
TipTopJob is seeking an experienced Control Software Engineer to join a leading automation system provider with nearly 40 years of industry expertise. The role is based near Leicester, with commutable options from Nottingham, Leicester and Coventry, and offers a competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum plus benefits.
Key Responsibilities
* Write and develop software, PLC and HMI code for various automation projects.
* Design electrical systems and create machine control solution layouts, ensuring compliance with the Machinery Directive and applicable safety standards.
* Integrate robots (SCARA, Delta, 6‑axis) and liaise with customers, suppliers and the engineering team.
* Lead projects through design, development and commissioning stages, producing detailed electrical documentation such as circuit diagrams, cable schedules and BOMs.
* Ensure all machine electrical and safety systems comply with EU and international standards and support CE marking processes.
* Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, maintaining effective communication and delivering projects on budget and within time constraints.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding with Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment.
* Hands‑on experience using ePlan for electrical design of machine automation.
* Solid knowledge of national and international electrical standards, machine design and safety requirements.
* Degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related control systems discipline.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
* Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK as needed.
