An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary PCN team.
We are a dynamic, forward-thinking PCN team passionate about developing and delivering excellent quality local services to meet our patients' needs.
The PCN has successfully joined a national pilot scheme aimed at making General Practice sustainable.
We are looking to expand our team by employing Salaried General Practitioners to work alongside our practices and PCN staff.
Our current PCN staff includes Clinical Pharmacists, Physician Associates, Social Prescribers, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Care Coordinators, Nurse Associates, and Pharmacist Technicians.
Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous general practitioner, working independently and with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat patients in a primary care setting. Provide expert advice to patients, carers, and colleagues, ensuring clinical excellence. Be involved in education and training of GP Registrars and staff. Be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice, ensuring patient safety and quality of care, in line with GMC standards.
The post holder must be capable of independent travel across the Rother Valley South area and work flexibly to meet the needs of the business.
About us
Rother Valley South PCN comprises four GP Practices with a combined list size of 57,000, based in South Yorkshire ICB, covering a large suburban area of Rotherham.
The PCN was formed in 2019, with no changes to its original members, and incorporated as an LTD Company in 2023 to support further development.

Job responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities
As per the practice rota, the post-holder will undertake duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, signing/authorizing repeat prescriptions, and handling queries and paperwork efficiently.
Make autonomous decisions regarding patient care, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare workers.
Assess healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed problems.
Screen for disease risk factors and early illness signs.
Develop care plans in consultation with patients, following current practice protocols.
Provide counseling and health education.
Manage patient admissions/discharges and referrals appropriately.
Record consultation notes clearly and contemporaneously.
Manage prescriptions electronically, adhering to formulary guidelines.
Visit patients during surgery hours in emergencies if clinically indicated.
Participate in on-call sessions and extended hours as per rota, and undertake home visits accordingly.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in primary care
* CPD and clinical audit experience
* Understanding of primary care contracts
* Minimum two years as a salaried GP
* Experience in medicines management and ICB initiatives
* Full GMC registration and National Performers List registration
* Appropriate indemnity cover
* Evidence of current validation and recent appraisal
* Eligibility to practice independently in the UK
Qualifications
* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* CCT in General Practice
