A highly desirable opportunity has arisen to join the Breast Imaging Team based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Clinical duties will be carried out at both Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, within dedicated Breast Imaging Units. The successful applicant will be an experienced Consultant Breast Radiographer, capable of independently assessing and managing a daily caseload of patients and ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of care.
The appointee will work collaboratively with the existing team of Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Radiographer, Advanced Practitioners, and Radiographers, contributing to the provision of a comprehensive diagnostic breast imaging service.

Main duties of the job
The role will encompass support for one-stop symptomatic breast clinics, NHSBSP assessment clinics, breast ultrasound, stereotactic and ultrasound-guided interventions, contrast-enhanced mammography, lesion localisations, as well as both screening film reading and symptomatic reporting.

The post holder will provide and facilitate an expert level of care to patients presenting with or who are at risk of breast disease, including the assessment and diagnosis of patients. They will exercise the highest degree of professional autonomy in the decision making process that will improve overall patient outcomes. An administration and audit session will provide an opportunity to confer with Consultant Radiologists reciprocally for difficult or equivocal cases.

The Consultant Radiographer will work totally autonomously in day to day practice with his/her own case load.
This will include screening film reading, assessment clinics issuing reports on mammograms, performing and issuing reports on breast ultrasound examinations and performing image guided biopsies and pre operative localisation procedures.
As a core member of the breast multi disciplinary team, the post-holder will present their own caseload and support breast MDT meetings across the county.
Clinical practice
Be an expert practitioner and act as a Consultant in all aspects of breast imaging diagnosis
Provide and facilitate an expert level of care to patients presenting with, or who are at risk of, breast cancer and other breast disease including the assessment and diagnosis of patients and to advice on the role and appropriateness of further complex imaging such as MRI in the evaluation and workup of breast problems.
Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy on a par with a Consultant Breast Radiologist, demonstrating clinical leadership, advanced clinical competence, decision making and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional radiographer roles.
To provide clinical leadership, consultancy and professional education as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.To work within and adhere to Standards and operational policies relating to the provision of a Quality Imaging Service, producing and developing protocols, procedures and training manuals reflecting evidence based best practice.
Play a key role in delivering the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) Quality assurance and audit programmes including implementation of agreed actions.Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering patient care, particularly with regards to imaging findings, ensuring sound clinical and ethical decision making in relation to breast diagnosis.
