Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and proactive qualified Family Law Practitioner to support our busy Family Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong family law background with experience working a full and varied, independent caseload. This role is ideal for a family law solicitor or CILEx Fellow who already has, or is ready to apply for, litigation rights and wishes to work in a busy Somerset firm. It will require excellent administrative skills, a compassionate outlook, a passion for learning and self‑development, and the drive to succeed in a demanding career.
Candidates should be highly motivated, experienced and seeking to take a leading role in the Family Department. Our firm strategy seeks to prioritise internal progression, and there is scope for the candidate to take on additional responsibilities. To that end, we are keen to hear from candidates with their career development plan as early as the interview stage.
Key Responsibilities
* Document preparation and amendments
* Developing and applying legal understanding
* Engaging with a caseload of live family legal matters at all stages
* Supporting and learning from colleagues on their matters
* Opening new client files and issuing correspondence
* Providing quotes and archiving completed files
* Handling telephone and in‑person client interactions
* Scheduling appointments and assisting with general and legal queries
* Undertaking legal research and maintaining up‑to‑date legal competence
* Dealing with courts and court administration
* Collaborating with colleagues across departments
