Job Description:
Torftech is a design engineering and intellectual property business that earns income from licensing and selling its proprietary TORBED and TORWAVE processors (www.torftech.com). Widely used in the food, mineral, and waste industries, these devices are designed to intensify processes and increase efficiency, facilitating applications like gas scrubbing, calcination, hydro-carbon substitution, waste recycling, and energy use.
We are a small, close-knit team characterized by curiosity and intellectual rigour. Due to growing business volumes, we are seeking to expand our team. We offer competitive remuneration and the opportunity to work with innovative technology that pushes the boundaries of industrial processing.
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to succeed our current engineer nearing retirement. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience with high-temperature industrial process plant and materials handling, including refractory design and installation. Reporting to the managing director, you will work independently after familiarization with our technologies and eventually oversee the mechanical engineering function within the group.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Mechanical aspects of process design, CAD drawing and design before manufacturing, and overseeing installation and commissioning.
* Reviewing manufacturing drawings for quality control.
* Diagnosing faults and implementing repairs.
* Managing maintenance schedules and spares supplies.
* Conducting tests on pilot plants.
* Managing the mechanical engineering team.
* Liaising with suppliers to ensure component quality.
* Supporting procurement processes.
Required qualifications and skills include a good engineering degree, practical experience in thermal processes and materials handling, interest in gas/solid processing, proficiency with Microsoft Office, ability to work remotely, and all necessary UK residence and work permits.
