Job Description:

Further information

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a suitably qualified planner to take up a key role within the Council's Planning and Regeneration service, in particular to help drive forward Swansea's ambitious forward planning and placemaking agenda.

The role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of projects, all of which are focused on shaping future development in Swansea and delivering positive outcomes for people and nature. The diversity of work available to you as a planner in Swansea is reflective of the areas distinctive natural and built environments, which encompasses vibrant urban areas (including a city centre experiencing transformative regeneration), extensive rural hinterland (including the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and spectacular coastal locations.

You will play a senior role in driving forward key projects for Swansea, and get to experience a wide variety of strategic planning work, including: preparation of the replacement Local Development Plan (LDP) and associated planning guidance; working with key stakeholders and partners to facilitate the delivery of schemes promoted by the LDP; undertaking strategic planning research and assessments; providing professional advice on planning applications and pre application proposals; monitoring planning outcomes; and a wide range of other duties dedicated to enhancing Swansea's natural and built environment.

Candidates should have relevant experience and hold an appropriate professional qualification, and either be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or be seeking to gain experience to achieve this.

Full details of the post duties and responsibilities can be found within the Job Description.

This is a permanent, full time post (37 hours per week).
