The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We operate as a connected national team, working and learning collaboratively.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both in the UK and internationally.
* National Markets: We serve mid-market corporates and PE funds across the UK, investing in key sectors to grow local economies.
The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and deals.
We assist clients in understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, collaborating across the KPMG network.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches
* Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory
* Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
Qualifications: Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive
* Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Coaching skills
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
