Financial Adviser - Brighton

Our client is looking for a Financial Adviser to deliver a holistic financial planning service to prospective and existing clients, providing personalised solutions designed to deliver their financial objectives and to drive new business from existing clients and acquisitions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Client Discovery & Financial Planning

1. Conduct comprehensive fact-finding to assess clients’ personal and financial circumstances, financial knowledge, experience, attitude to risk, and capacity for loss.
2. Establish and regularly review clients’ risk profiles and financial objectives, ensuring they are specific, measurable, and aligned with their needs and aspirations.
3. Evaluate the suitability of existing financial arrangements and recommend tailored financial planning solutions based on thorough product and market research.
4. Clearly articulate the rationale, benefits, risks, and potential drawbacks of all recommendations, ensuring suitability and transparency.
5. Drafting simple suitability reports from existing templates where applicable.

Client Relationship Management

6. Deliver high-quality client service throughout the onboarding process and beyond, working closely with internal teams to ensure a seamless experience.
7. Conduct regular client reviews in line with the firm’s Client Service Policy, maintaining strong, long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for additional support or services.
8. Complete compliant annual reviews with existing fee-paying clients via video or telephone, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate documentation.

Business Development & Performance

9. Meet agreed annual targets for new business income and service-related KPIs.
10. Proactively generate and convert new business opportunities, including prospecting and following up with potential clients in line with the firm’s business plan.
11. Promote the firm’s central investment proposition and migrate clients where appropriate.

Collaboration & Communication

12. Work collaboratively with paraplanners, administrators, compliance teams, and investment managers to ensure holistic, compliant, and efficient advice delivery.
13. Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, recommendations, and supporting documentation, ensuring a professional and client-centric approach at all times.

Regulatory Compliance & Professional Standards

14. Ensure full compliance with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, FCA Conduct Rules, Statements of Principle, and all other relevant FCA regulations.
15. Keep up to date with changes in regulation, tax legislation, and market trends to ensure advice remains compliant and relevant.
16. Maintain a valid Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) and commit to ongoing professional development.

File and Data Management

17. Maintain client files in a compliant and auditable state, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation.
18. Adhere to the firm’s data protection, data security, and record-keeping policies, ensuring all client records are securely stored and retained in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Person Specification

Qualifications

19. Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning or Chartered as well as Competent Adviser Status (CAS) and current SPS.

Knowledge and experience

20. Demonstrate understanding in all areas of financial advice including: Investments, Pensions, Personal Tax, Estate Planning and Protection; Mortgages and Equity Release where applicable.
21. Ensure your Continuing Professional Development is up to date at all times and you meet the CII/IFS minimum CPD annual requirements. Attend compliance and regulatory based workshops, training sessions and completion of CII modules.
22. Demonstrate competency in using industry tools to support financial planning such as cash flow modelling software.
23. Ensure full awareness and understanding of all internal processes and manage these effectively, working with all the support teams to deliver an exceptional service to clients at all times.
24. Previous experience of delivering advice via video meetings and over the telephone.
25. Previous use of Intelligent Officer is desirable but not required.
26. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.

30. Organised and Detail-Oriented: Maintains strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all work.
31. Motivated and Resilient: Shows a proven work ethic, hunger to succeed, and the motivation to go above and beyond in delivering client outcomes.
32. Curious and Growth-Oriented: Displays a high level of intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
33. Positive and Professional: Maintains a consistently positive attitude and professional demeanour, even under pressure.
34. Technologically Competent: Demonstrates general IT proficiency and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and tools.

Salary

35. Level 4 Salary is £65K base
36. Chartered is £75K base

PLUS A discretionary quarter bonus, 50% on any new fees and other additional bonuses.
