The Role
The Business Analyst is an integral part of a feature team and a member of the wider Business Analysis community. The position reports to a senior Business Analyst within the Life Technology department and usually works as the sole Business Analyst on an agile feature team.
Key responsibilities include understanding user and business needs, visualising and delivering business outcomes, contributing to system and process improvement, building key relationships with peers in business and technology, and actively participating within the Business Analysis community across Technology.
Accountabilities
* Investigate, understand and capture requirements, presenting them in a clear manner to support build and implementation.
* Contribute to the team and produce the right outcomes, stepping in where necessary.
* Unblock problems and issues, finding solutions and facilitating their implementation.
* Prioritise work when demand exceeds supply, helping to deliver in a creative and efficient manner.
* Actively contribute to the Business Analysis community, supporting the Head of Business Analysis and driving continuous improvement.
* Manage stakeholder relationships, building credibility and influence to achieve positive outcomes.
Skills Required
* Technology skills: Comfortable working in a technology team, familiar with architecture terminology and key industry software, and able to analyse data. Experienced in agile and waterfall methodologies with a clear understanding of their respective advantages.
* Business process understanding: Able to analyse and document current business processes clearly, identify optimisation opportunities, and implement transformations, particularly within financial services.
* Research and critical thinking: Capable of exploring multiple outcomes, identifying the best solution through research and enquiry, and presenting findings appropriately for the intended audience.
* People skills: Skilled at interacting with individuals across all levels, understanding motivations, and influencing business analysis outcomes.
* Communication skills: Excellent listening and negotiation abilities; able to communicate at the right level of detail, frequency, and style.
* Business Analysis expertise: Proficient in formal business analysis skills including investigation, analysis, visualisation, and articulation of solutions that align with M&G’s vision, with awareness of market trends and techniques.
* Can‑do attitude: Eager to find solutions, overcome issues, and roll up sleeves to get the job done.
