Senior Legal Officer

Position Details
* Location: London/hybrid
* Hours: Full-time 35 hours/week (part-time considered)
* Salary:£53,300 per annum, plus generous benefits
* Contract: 12 months fixed-term (possible extension)

The Role
Join an independent What Works Centre, funded by a core grant from the Department for Education, with additional funding from other governmental departments and philanthropic bodies. We seek a contract manager to support the grant giving and contracting functions within the Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review and consolidate existing grant and service agreement templates, ensuring compliance.
2. Prepare internal guidance on the use of contract templates.
3. Develop and maintain a register of variations to standard T&Cs.
4. Advise on due diligence and legal considerations for collaborations with partners such as charities, research institutes, universities, local authorities, and government departments.
5. Support project teams in establishing new grant and service agreements.
6. Assist project teams with existing agreements.
7. Provide organization-wide training on standard T&Cs and contract management.
8. Develop robust, future-proof contracting processes to ensure compliance and best practices.
9. Act as the main contact for external legal advice providers.
10. Coordinate with the finance team to ensure funding disbursements comply with agreements and legal requirements.
About You
You should hold a law (or similar) degree, with experience in contract law and contracting within a not-for-profit or grant-making environment.
