Job Overview - This role will provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors, in person, via telephone or electronic communications. It requires undertaking a variety of administrative duties to support the smooth running of the practice and provide support to clinical staff and other team members. The post holder will assist and direct patients to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. The post holder will be line managed by the Admin Team Lead who oversees the reception team.
Responsibilities
* Answering calls, amending and making appointments.
* Ensuring that appointment bookings are well-managed and that a safe, high-quality service is delivered to patients.
* Responding to patient queries in a timely manner via Accurx, email or post.
* Ensuring administrative work is completed to a high standard; tasks include repeat prescription processing in accordance with practice policy and patient registrations and deductions on SystmOne.
* Opening and locking the practice and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocol.

Communication
* Communicate effectively with other team members.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communication.
* Comply with all requirements to communicate in a secure manner, ensuring that all communications are confidential in line with best practice and current guidelines.
Personal and people development
* Take responsibility for own development and performance, including identifying gaps in knowledge and seeking suitable training.
* Work with management on any new training requirements and mandatory training when required.
* Recognise and understand the roles and responsibilities of individuals working in the Surgery.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above as a minimum requirement).

Experience
* Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role is preferred but not essential.
