Groundsperson (Temporary Contract) Location: Vincent Square, London Contract: Temporary - Full Time (40 hours per week) Start Date: October 2025 About the Role Our client is seeking a temporary Groundsperson to join their dedicated team maintaining a prestigious 10-acre playing field at Vincent Square - the largest square in Central London. The site features cricket and football pitches, tennis courts (both tarmac and artificial grass), and an activity area used by younger pupils. Under the supervision of the Head Groundsperson, you will help ensure that all playing surfaces and surrounding areas are maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on, rewarding role for someone who enjoys outdoor work, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in creating safe, high-quality sports and recreation spaces. Key Responsibilities As part of the grounds team, your duties will include: Performing general grounds maintenance: mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, and weeding. Marking and overmarking sports areas such as football pitches, cricket squares, and athletics tracks. Maintaining both natural and artificial playing surfaces. Carrying out horticultural tasks including ground preparation, turfing, seeding, and pruning. Setting up and dismantling sports equipment, ensuring it is maintained to a high standard. Liaising with staff and external users to ensure sports areas are ready for use. Assisting with seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, snow removal, and surface treatment. Reporting maintenance and safety issues promptly. Operating and maintaining grounds machinery and tools safely. Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and site procedures. About You You'll be a proactive and hardworking individual with: Experience in grounds maintenance, ideally in a school, sports, or estate setting. Knowledge of turf care, horticultural techniques, and safe machinery operation. A positive, team-oriented attitude with excellent attention to detail. Flexibility to work occasional Saturdays on a rota basis. A relevant qualification in horticulture or groundskeeping (e.g., NVQ Level 2) and PA1/PA6 spraying certification would be advantageous but not essential. Hours of Work Monday to Friday: 07:30 - 16:00 Saturdays: On rotation (approx. 13 per year) Additional hours may be available and paid at the standard overtime rate. Why Work with Our Client?
