We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a 16-year-old student preparing for their GCSEs at a prestigious independent school in Bishop's Stortford. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, perfect for someone who has experience supporting individuals with Autism and is passionate about tailored, student-centred support. What You'll Be Doing as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant: Providing dedicated one-to-one academic and emotional support to a student with Autism, helping them access and engage with the GCSE curriculum. Supporting with study organisation, focus, and task breakdown to make learning manageable and achievable. Liaising with subject teachers and SEN staff to ensure consistent support strategies are in place across lessons. Promoting the development of independent learning skills, social confidence, and wellbeing. Offering a calm and reassuring presence in times of emotional dysregulation or sensory overload. Tracking progress and identifying areas where additional help may be needed. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required: ✅ Must have previous experience supporting children or adults with Autism, either in education, healthcare, or community settings. ✅ Strong understanding of neurodiverse learning styles, sensory regulation, and communication differences. ✅ Excellent written and verbal communication - key for working with school staff and logging student progress. ✅ Organised, reliable, and able to work autonomously within the classroom environment. ✅ Empathetic, patient, and intuitive - with the ability to remain calm under pressure. ✅ GCSE-level education or higher - knowledge of the GCSE curriculum is advantageous but not essential.
