Controls Engineer — North London
Up to £70K per annum
About the Role
A leading UK manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support and enhance controls, automation, and electrical systems across a high-performance manufacturing site.
This role is ideal for a technically strong Controls Engineer who enjoys hands-on involvement with automation systems, fault-finding, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting automation projects, and improving machine performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will work closely with the wider engineering and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of site equipment.
Contract: Permanent
Shift: Monday - Friday (Days)
Key Responsibilities
* Provide controls and automation engineering support across the site
* Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise PLC and control systems
* Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities
* Improve equipment reliability and machine performance
* Carry out fault-finding on electrical and control systems
* Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives
* Assist with controls upgrades, modifications, and small automation projects
* Ensure compliance with safety, electrical, and engineering standards
Key Requirements
* Relevant electrical and/or controls engineering qualification
* Proven experience working as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment
* Strong PLC fault-finding and diagnostics experience
* Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley control systems preferred (other platforms considered)
* Good understanding of automation, electrical systems, and industrial controls
* Strong focus on equipment reliability and continuous improvement
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
